Emotional Intelligence is a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.

Through the use of EQ-i 2.0 the individual can explore the following areas:

  1. Self-perception

Designed to assess feelings of inner strength and confidence, persistence in the pursuit of personally relevant and meaningful goals while understanding what, when, why and how different emotions impact thoughts and actions.

  1. Self-expression

An extension of the Self-perception composite scale. It addresses the outward expression or the action component of one’s internal perception.

  1. Interpersonal

The ability to develop and maintain relationships based on trust and compassion as well as being able to articulate an understanding of another’s perspective.

  1. Decision Making

The way in which one uses emotional information as well as understanding the impact emotions have on decision making.

  1. Stress Management

How well one can cope with the emotions associated with change and unfamiliar and unpredictable circumstances, whilst remaining hopeful about the future and resilient in the face of setbacks and obstacles.

The EQ-i 2.0 measures emotional intelligence (EI) and how it can impact people and the workplace. The 1-5-15 factor structure created one overarching EI score (Total EI), broken down into five composite scales, which in turn are broken down into a total of 15 subscales.

Applications of emotional intelligence include:

  • Leadership Development
  • Selection
  • Organisational Development
  • Executive Coaching
  • Team Building

While emotional intelligence isn’t the sole predictor of human performance and development potential, it is proven to be a key indicator in these areas. Emotional intelligence is not a static factor – to the contrary, one’s emotional intelligence changes over time and can be developed in targeted areas.
